Waymark Volunteers know that life-changing impact is possible and it starts with just one child. Below are opportunities to get involved in the lives of youth in foster, adoptive and group homes.

Volunteer Opportunities by Commitment

Level 1

Time Commitment: Hours - 1 Day

  1. Write Cards for children and teens (Camp and birthday cards)
  2. Provide Meals (Weekly Compass groups)
  3. Part-time camp volunteers (ex. set up team, registration, fishing, scrapbooking)
  4. Camp “Events”: Princess Ball, Superhero Event, Spa Time, Birthday party
  5. One-day event volunteers (Xtreme Journey & Community4Youth)
  6. Fundraising Event Volunteers (Gala)
  7. Professionals to assist with life/job skills training

Level 2

Time Commitment: Week or Weekend

  1. Big Brother/Sister (RFKC & Journey Weekend)
  2. Big Camper (Counselor)
  3. Full-time Camp volunteers such as photographer, videographer, nurse, therapist, Grandma & Grandpa, & teams that oversee activities, fishing, etc.

Level 3

Time Commitment: Weekly (Ongoing)

  1. One-on-one Mentor (Traditional, Pen-pal, Professional, Tutor)
  2. Compass Group Mentor

Volunteer Opportunities by Program

Volunteer Requirements

All Waymark volunteers are carefully vetted to ensure each person who comes in contact with our youth is well qualified. Volunteers come from diverse backgrounds and ages (15 and up). We also have opportunities for families to serve together.

FULL-TIME VOLUNTEER:

This includes all volunteers staying overnight in the cabins with the kids as well as anyone staying the week/weekend of camp who may be interacting with campers on a one-on-one basis.

Requirements include: Application, interview, reference checks, background check, and training.

 

PART-TIME VOLUNTEER:

This includes anyone who comes out for a few hours during any day of camp or event and does not stay overnight OR anyone who does not have one-on-one interaction with campers.

Requirements include: Application and one-hour training (RFKC/Journey Weekends).
Background check MAY be required as well.
